The end of summer means the end to swimming at Michigan’s great beaches. But it doesn’t mean that swimming is over. You just need an indoor waterpark Michigan-style.

Michigan has many water parks, so you and your friends won’t have a hard time finding aquatic fun.

Michigan’s indoor waterparks make a great choice for anyone looking for an exciting family activity or a crazy date night. We also recommend a few favorite outdoor waterparks because they are so much fun.

Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain Resort

This indoor water park is Michigan’s largest at 88,000 square feet. Boyne Mountain Resort was a popular spot when it opened. We were there at the time.

Is it a giant waterpark or a top-ranked ski resort in Michigan? What more could you want? It’s great to be able to continue your fun indoors after a day on the ice slopes or ice skating in the .

Your party members who don’t want to ski can enjoy their time at the water park. There are plenty of activities to keep them busy.

Avalanche Bay Indoor Water Park is the home of the world-famous waterpark super loop “The Big Couloir”. There are many indoor play options to choose from. There are four pools and eight waterslides. You can also play pool basketball.

The Rip Zone Surf Simulator is where we learned (almost) to surf, just as Boyne Mountain was the place where we learned to ski. This park’s top feature is the surf simulator.

A favorite is the four-lane Downhill Mat Racer. Racing friends and family down a water slide can be so much fun that no one really cares who wins.

An 800-gallon waterfall can also knock you to your knees, and it’s unlike any waterfall you’ve ever seen.

DO NOT MISS: Boyne Mountain Resort offers year-round fun: We have as much fun on the slopes in winter as we do in summer and fall. You can play tennis, golf, hike and bike on the vast grounds in the summer.

Nearby is Deer Lake, an inland lake with a beach and paddleboards. The fall foliage is spectacular, with the colors changing from green to bright reds, yellows and golds. Take a chairlift into the trees every day to see the best fall colors in Michigan.

BOYNE MOUNTAIN IS VERY COMFORTLESS TO BOTH PETOSKEY AND CHARLEVOX, two top Michigan vacation spots. This charming city is worth a visit, no matter what season.

Great Wolf Lodge & Water Park*ADA Accessible features

The Great Wolf Lodge is a family-friendly place that offers plenty of fun for all ages. This lodge in northern Michigan is located in Traverse City. It is also home to one of the most popular indoor waterparks in Michigan.

Tube slides are a great way to increase your adrenaline level. A four-story treehouse structure is packed with water games and slides that are just right for toddlers and younger children.

Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse city also has an activity pool. Hot tubs are available for adults who want to relax after a long day on the beach.

This spot has a lot to offer families with children of all ages.

Do you feel the urge to get your whole family on a raft and paddle down a river? River Canyon Run is a family-friendly raft ride that they have prepared for you. Do you find all of this a bit too exciting? Relax and enjoy Crooked Creek’s lazy river.

You can also pick up a day pass if you don’t wish to spend the night in their Michigan lodge-style hotel.

DON’T MISS: Allow yourself to spend an additional day exploring the Leelanau Peninsula or Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. They are both less than an hour by car.

You’ll find charming villages and towns tucked into the stunning scenery.

If you’re going: Traverse City has plenty to offer, regardless of the season. You should plan to spend an additional day exploring this area located right in Grand Traverse Bay.

Soaring Eagle Waterpark

This water park is mid-Michigan’s best.

Have you ever wanted to surf but been discouraged by your mom’s advice that it was too dangerous? This is the spot for you: Soaring Eagle offers a truly unique surfing experience for all wannabes.

Loons Loop is our favorite. It’s a three-story slide with music and bright lights that makes it a fun ride. It’s one the most unique body slides in America.

Have you ever balanced on a floating oak? No? You can get splash pads that look like acorns.

You might be curious about the origins of the park’s traditions. Sit down with Nokomis, the resident storyteller, and she will tell you stories from her childhood with the tribe Saginaw Chippewa.

DON’T MISS: Mount Pleasant is the home of Central Michigan University. It is worth a visit. We love to travel to Midland, MI (30 minutes by car) to walk The Tridge. This unique bridge spans three rivers in downtown Midland.

Fairview Beachfront Inn Hotel & Waterpark

Although this waterpark is not your typical hotel waterpark it is the location that counts most. Nearly at the top of Lake Huron, guests can enjoy late-night campfires and swimming in the lake during summer and the waterpark during winter.

Mackinaw City is a great place to shop and eat.

Bavarian Inn & Lodge Waterpark

Bavarian Inn calls their water park the only “living-room water park”, because it is literally possible to walk straight out of your hotel’s living room into the waterpark. What convenience is that?

The water park is equipped with 4 pools, 3 Whirlpools and 2 slides. It will keep both adults and children entertained throughout the day.

The lodge offers more at night with indoor Mini Golf, a family center and a pretzel-rolling class that is held every Saturday and Sunday. You’ll find great dining options here. The Bavarian Lodge restaurant has a great selection of chicken dishes. You’ll want to stay over just to get another chance to try them.

DON’T MISS: Christmas is celebrated in Frankenmuth (MI) every day. So, be sure to feel the holiday spirit wherever you are. Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland is located in Frankenmuth, MI. It bills itself as the “Largest Christmas Store in the World em>

It will take you at least half an hour to navigate this fun store.

IF You Go: The Bavarian Inn Lodge is an iconic destination, with its covered bridge and beautifully manicured grounds.

Zehnder’s Splash Village, and Hotel

Zehnder’s, the famed restaurant serving chicken dinners, is also a hotel and restaurant. It also houses one of the most well-known indoor waterparks within Michigan.

This Frankenmuth waterpark hotel has two indoor water parks. You’ll have lots of fun and a retractable roof will allow you to get a great tan.

This is a great choice for families with small children, as the whimsical whirl hot bathtubs are decorated with large mushrooms, giving it an “Alice in Wonderland-effect”.

There is plenty to do here for your family, with a geyser-equipped play zone for kids who love the thrill of a water gun. Water volleyball and water basketball are great options for sports fans.

When you’re tired of the excitement, there are snacks that you can grab. Two places to eat are Elf Hollow Cafe or The Mushroom Grille.

Stop by the gift shop to grab a souvenir to remember the fun at the splash village.

DON’T MISS: We try to make Frankenmuth a two-day visit, as you will want to explore Michigan’s “Little Bavaria.”

You’ll need at minimum two days to see everything, from the iconic Chicken Dinner at Zehnder’s to browsing all of the shops.

IF You Go: Frankenmuth lies in a beautiful area of farms. The farm markets are filled with delicious fresh produce, home-made baked goods, and other goodies.

Make it an effort to visit the Michigan’s top farmers markets, if possible.

Wyndham Gardens Sterling Inn Indoor Water Park NOW CLOSED

Wyndham Garden Sterling Inn, a smaller waterpark, is for you.

It’s still equipped with all the necessary elements for a great waterpark: 3 story slides and a spinning vortex pool as well as geysers, lazy rivers, geysers, and interactive splash park. Although it isn’t quite as big as a Kalahari Resort, it does the job just fine.

Surfari Joe’s Indoor Wilderness Water Park is TEMPORARILY CLOSED

The waterpark will excite little ones with its two extreme waterslides, which take you outside and then bring you back inside.

If you get caught in its cold contents, the playland will send chills down your spine. Take a ride on the Zambezi River and enjoy a splash landing. Run with your friends or take a dip in the pool.

Romulus Athletic Center

You need a quick escape or a dip in an indoor swimming pool with water during the busy fall and winter months in Metro Detroit? Wayne County is home to an incredible indoor water park.

Romulus Athletic Centre is one of the many local centers that have waterpark amenities. It features a two-story waterslide and lazy river, splash pool and lap pool, as well as an outdoor splash pool and outdoor pool for summer outdoor play.

Romulus Athletic Center’s indoor pool is a great place to host birthday parties, hang out with friends, or just relax in a hot spa.

In the past, this location offered summer camps. However, it has not done so since 2015. You can keep checking their website for any updates.

Gold Rush Waterpark

Gold Rush Indoor Waterpark boasts a total of 60,000 square feet of fun water park fun. It is also home to the tallest indoor water slide in West Michigan.

It’s located at the Double JJ Resort at Gold Rush Indoor Water Park. Although it isn’t as well-known as some other indoor water parks in Michigan it’s definitely worth the visit.

This waterpark is known for its water slides, wave pool and water fort. It also features a separate toddler pool, making it more appealing for children younger than the rest.

DON’T MISS: The Double JJ Resort offers a variety of amazing activities year round, such as horseback riding, mini-golfing and the Back Forty Swimming Hole. This outdoor water park is open to all ages. This is a great weekend getaway or road trip.

If You Go: The Double JJ Resort is situated between Grand Rapids, MI and Ludington, MI, two of the most popular tourist destinations in Michigan.

Holland Community Aquatic Zone

Holland offers so many amazing attractions, but did you know that there is a 150-foot water slide? This water slide is part of the Holland Aquatic Center, which recently opened. There are also Water Canons, Splash Zones, and even a zipline that runs right across the pool!

This indoor aquatic center is a community center that caters to all your water-related needs, no matter if you’re a child or an adult.

You can challenge a friend to the floating obstacle course, climb an iceberg, slide down the 150-foot slide, or fire water cannons at your friends.

It is the ideal place to have fun, take swimming lessons, or do water therapy.

Michigans Adventure Water Park

Michigan Adventures Water Park offers a variety of water-based activities.

Wave pools (or Boogie Beach) are suitable for both shallow-water swimmers and deep-water floaters. Five minutes are followed by five minutes off, and then five minutes on again. This allows you to enjoy the water and body surf the waves.

Waterford Oaks

This popular spot is a great place to have fun in southeast Michigan. The tropical wave pool at Waterford Oaks features palm trees and bubbler fountains right near the shore. More than 30 interactive activities are available in the children’s water play area. The pools are also heated.

Red Oaks Waterpark
