Holland Michigan Tulip Festival – Tulip Time

The Holland Tulip Festival also known as Tulip Time, is West Michigan’s spring festival. The Holland Tulip Time Festival will take place May 7th – May 15th, 2023.

This means that there will be eight days of carnivals, events, and activities in Holland MI over eight days, all surrounded with flowering tulips.

Celebrate Spring

Michigan’s spring celebrations are best when there are more than 6,000,000 tulips blooming in full color. Activities and events take place at different locations. Tulips can be viewed free of charge in downtown parks or along streets.

Holland’s Tulip Festival is in Spring

The Dutch Village and Dutch Windmills are the highlights of Holland Michigan.

The Holland Tulip Time Festival, a nine-day-long event, is filled with family fun, including Tulip CIty trolley tours, visits to tulip farm, and even a ferris rod.

When Tulip Time approaches, 8th Street, the charming brick-paved street that runs through central Holland, becomes a party place. Each flower farm and field becomes one huge tulip-garden for you to explore outside of the downtown area.

Holland MI Tulip Time Festival Activities and Events

It has been voted one of the best small town festivals in America. There are many fun activities, events and things to do throughout the week at various locations in the city.

Artisan Market

When: Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m.
Beechwood Church

This popular artisan market has been a tradition for over 20 years. It features more than 240 artisans selling original, handmade works.

There will be food trucks on-site, and there will be pop-up Dutch Dance performances throughout the event.

Dutch Carnival

When: Friday, May 6, at 5 p.m. to Sunday, May 14,
Where: Holland Civic Center Lot, MI

For a wide variety of food, attractions and rides, visit the Carnival Midway. You can purchase wristbands at the location.

Klompen Dance

When: May 5, 2007 at 7 p.m., through May 14, 2007.
Where: There are many locations throughout Holland, MI

You can watch local costumed people in wooden shoes performing traditional Dutch dances called “Klompen Dance.” This is a great way to celebrate our local heritage.

This schedule will allow you to locate times and locations for Klompen Dance performances.

Raffle and Quilt Show

When: Saturday, Mai 7 – Sunday May 15
Where: Beechwood Church at 895 Ottawa Beach Rd Holland, MI 49424

Over 100 beautiful quilts, wall hangings, and art quilts will be on display. The creations are displayed by local artists. Each cut, each stitch, and every pattern will show the quilter’s skills and experience in this rare craft.

You can win a unique quilt made especially for this year’s festival by purchasing a raffle ticket.

Tulip Time Parades

When: Kinderparade will be Thursday, May 12, at 2 – 3 p.m.; Volksparade Saturday, May 14 from 1-3 p.m.
Where: Kinderparade Route 8th Street is between Columbia and Kollen Park; Volksparade Route 8th Street is from Columbia to Van Raalte, and 24th

You have two options: one that features elementary school children in Dutch heritage costumes and another that features local marching bands and community floats. In a fun twist, the Mayor, local dignitaries, and others, are dressed in full Dutch costumes, to clean the streets for parade participants.

Tall Ship Dockside Tours

When: Every Saturday from May 7 to Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m.
Boatwerks East Dock

The Michigan Maritime Museum of South Haven operates the Friends Good Will, a replica Great Lakes sloop dating back to 1810. This tall ship is a great way to explore and learn more about the maritime history of the region. This is one of our favourite things to do during Tulip Time. Don’t miss it!

Tulip Immersion Garden

Where is Ottawa County Fairgrounds

The immserive experience of Dutch horticulturist Ibo Gulsen will feature 50,000 tulips in various colors and types. The history of the tulip is told from Turkey to the Netherlands and then to Holland, Michigan. You’ll love these amazing shots if you are on Instagram!

Tulip Sale

When: Online only, March 15-April 22
Pick up at Holland Parks Dept. 429 E. 24th St. Holland, MI 49423

You can still purchase unique souvenirs and potted tulips. Each pot is made up of 8-10 bulbs from imported tulip plants that will bring a burst in color to your garden or home come spring.

Tulip Time Run

When: Saturday May 7, 2008, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Where: Kollen Park Holland MI

Enjoy the beauty of spring as you run along the tulip-lined streets. There are three Tulip Time Runs available: a 5K, 10K, and Kids’ Fun Run. The Tulip Time Virtual Run is also available. You can run a 5K, 10K, or 10K on any course you choose, if you are unable to make it to Holland, Michigan, for the Tulip Time Festival. This is a great way for the whole family to get involved.

Walking Tours with Tulip Time at Windows on the Waterfront

When: Everyday, Saturday May 7th – Sunday May 15th
Where: Windows on the Waterfront

Tickets holders will have access to walking tours throughout the festival week. A costumed guide will lead you through the charming Dutch capital for 1.5 miles. As you admire the beautiful tulip blooms, you will discover all about Holland’s past, places of interest, as well as other interesting facts about the charming town.

Zeeland Girl Exhibition

When: Everyday, Saturday, May 7th – Sunday May 15th; One-hour viewing time
Holland Armory

Rem van den Bosch is a Dutch photographer. His U.S. exhibit “Zeeland Girl” is a collaboration project that involves dressmakers hand-sewing classic dresses with modern spins and photographs. Van den Bosch’s stunning photos will be displayed on tall, 10-foot tall displays and side-by-side alongside twenty-five dresses from the series.

Walking tours

Tickets holders will have the opportunity to take walking tours of downtown during the festival week. A costumed guide will lead you through the charming Dutch capital for two miles. As you admire the beautiful tulip blooms, you will discover all about Holland’s past, places of interest, as well as other interesting facts about the charming town.

Tulip Lane – Have you ever seen an entire lane of Tulips? Every year hundreds of thousands are planted on the streets of Holland to create a stunning explosion of color. You want to know where you can see these stunning floral displays? Here’s a guide from Holland. Nelis Dutch Village – This authentic Dutch village lets you step back 100 years in the Netherlands. This theme park features traditional Dutch costumes, a cheese-making facility, and a petting zone.
